Sydney MARTIN (VP Philanthropy)

My name is Sydney Martin and I am a first year student in Environmental Economics and Public Policy (French immersion program).

Why should voters choose you?/ideas

First of all, I am an enthusiastic and outgoing person who is committed to the ESA and the students it serves. As a longtime athlete and more recently as a Gee-Gee, I have learned the value of hard work and perseverance, qualities which I would bring to my position as VP Philanthropy. On the more practical side, as a member of student council and similar organizations throughout my high school years, I have relevant experience in both planning and carrying out large-scale events for a student body.

In addition to effectively organizing existing events like Movember at Maclaren’s, Relay for Life, and Shinerama, I have some other ideas for events I believe would interest and engage the ESA student body. My main initiative would be a casino night in which the ESA could raise funds via an entry fee. As well as raising money, this would be a great way to bring econ students together for a good cause.

Thank you for taking the time to read my platform and don’t forget to vote on March 22 and 23 in the FSS lobby!
